Poland Track and Field lost, in my opinion, its most loyal and long-time fan Wednesday December 21 when Jimmy Berroteran died. Jimmy, ( as I called him) as long as I have been associated with track and field, was one you could always expect to see at local track meets. Whether it was the Poland Invitational, the Optimist meet, a tournament meet and yes even at a state track meet, I would always look for Jimmy and 99 per cent of the time I would find him there. He traveled to Dayton, Ohio in 2000 when Poland won its state championship. He loved all Poland sports and was always in attendance at most if not all events. He was a true lover of high school sports. I remember Jimmy telling me that he went to Arizona to visit relatives and while there he looked for and found a high school track meet to attend. He will be sorely missed by the Poland sports community, and especially to this writer.
